Notion AI Can Now Chat With Your Own Data
Notion just dropped a new feature and I tested it on day one. The capability: you can now chat directly with the data inside your Notion workspace. Ask a question, it searches your pages, databases, and notes and surfaces a synthesized answer.
Why This Is a Meaningful Shift
Most people's Notion workspace is full of information they can't easily retrieve. Meeting notes from 6 months ago. Research from a project you finished last year. Decisions that were documented but are now buried. A chat interface over your own data makes all of that instantly queryable.
Instead of knowing where something is, you just ask. "What did we decide about pricing in Q3?" "What were the key findings from the customer research?" Notion finds it.
Who Gets the Most Value
Teams with rich Notion workspaces — lots of documentation, meeting notes, project history. The more you've put into Notion, the more valuable the AI chat becomes. If you have a sparse workspace, the value is lower.
For solo operators who use Notion as a second brain, this is genuinely useful. Your past self documented things for exactly this moment — when future you needs to find them quickly.
The Limitation
It works on what's in Notion. If your important information lives in Google Drive, Slack, or your email, it won't see that. The value compounds with workspace completeness. If you're not already using Notion seriously, this feature alone isn't a reason to start.
