Silicon Valley Is the Largest AI Lab in the World Right Now
And inside it, there are 5 distinct cultures emerging around AI. Knowing which one you belong to — and which one you want to belong to — is the first step in building an AI strategy that actually fits who you are.
Culture 1: AI Native
People building businesses from scratch with AI at the center. One person plus AI can now start a business that previously required a team. This is the most aggressive camp — and the one with the highest potential ceiling.
Culture 2: AI First
Established businesses and professionals who've decided to put AI at the front of every decision and process. The rule is: before hiring a person for any function, ask if AI can do it. If AI can, AI goes first.
Culture 3: AI Assisted
The largest camp. Using AI to augment existing workflows without fundamentally redesigning them. ChatGPT for writing, Canva AI for design, AI for summaries. Meaningful productivity gains, but not transformation.
Culture 4: AI Curious
Watching, learning, experimenting occasionally. Not yet committed to changing workflows. This is a dangerous place to stay for too long — the window for catching up narrows every month.
Culture 5: AI Resistant
Skeptical or opposed. Sometimes principled, sometimes fear-based. This is the TikTok Resister position — valid in the moment, costly in hindsight.
Where I Play
I'm building AI Native businesses. I want to operate in the camp where AI is the infrastructure, not the tool. That's where the leverage is highest.
